Olga Kivius I don't know why they missed the 3rd track here (it is available on www.cdbaby.com) but still...))
I was looking for this album by this Dutch pianist for many years and finally I found it here.
Very emotional, expressive, melodic, lyrical, sometimes melancholy contemporary jazz with piano, strings, clarinet & drums. Maybe, it's not very surprising by the development of musical themes (the ending of the 1st track is killing though!), but this music on the whole is extremely beautiful ))

about

"Franz von Chossy, who also studied film scoring, is known for his lyrical, cinematic approach to music and adventurous mix of styles, often with emotional impact. This album is a highlight in that respect."
(Tim Sprangers, Jazz assistant at "De Volkskrant")

The new suite from the Franz von Chossy Quintet, When the World Comes Home, is a musical interpretation of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from paradise. The nine parts of the suite explore the story's full range of emotion. Graceful lyricism is contrasted with dark undertones as the music moves from simplicity, harmony and balance to complexity and dissonance.

Von Chossy was inspired by a collaboration with the poet Abra Bertman, who gave titles to most of the compositions and wrote a poem for the title piece "When the World Comes Home".

When the World Comes Home
(Abra Bertman)

She was a ribbed
luscious pippin
of a girl, new-pressed
from dust to diamond.

Some things get burnt.

A black bear trundled
and the path steamed
with morning. The soft
paws dug and we licked
water from leaves.

At night new lights
fell to the ground like
apple flowers.

A branch was tight
with speaking thread.
Green sap
from a clipped stem
stained our mouths
with sun.

Behind us mirrored blades
reflected cities made of smoke
and flame. The ocean crusted
with salt. We bore

children who toiled and fought
in the dark earth,
built towers of departure.

We listened to the fine dust settling
and cradled our ribs in our hands.
